Description
The American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) Innovation Taskforce was established with the charge to strengthen the structure and function of AIHC as a sustainable community of interprofessional practice that embodies the NEXUS and can continue to grow, in collaboration with the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. This session will summarize the development phases, and discuss opportunities for the future integrating the collaborative organizational framework.

Tina Patel Gunaldo, PhD, DPT,MHS
Dr. Tina Gunaldo is the inaugural Director for the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Office at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans (LSUHSCNO). With a decade of experience in this area, Dr. Gunaldo has over 30 publications and has presented at regional, national and international conferences. Her most recent accomplishments include leading the development of a state-wide interprofessional education (IPE) consortium, leading the development of a biannual meeting of interprofessional journal editors, co-leading the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative, serving on the Interprofessional Education Collaborative Expert Panel (IPEC) leveraging the IPEC Competency Framework, and serving on the External Advisory Council for the University of Texas Health San Antonio interprofessional program. Dr. Gunaldo is the co-editor in chief for the Health, Interprofessional Practice and Education journal and is a co-editor for the textbook Interprofessional Education and Collaboration: An Evidence-Based Approach to Optimizing Health Care. Most importantly, Dr. Gunaldo is supported by a wonderful team of faculty, who have supported and/or integrated IPE into their academic practice.
Devin Nickol MD
Dr. Devin Nickol is the founding Co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice. He is a practicing general internist and professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he serves as Associate Dean for Interprofessional Education. He lectures and directs courses within UNMC’s College of Medicine, and travels to western Nebraska each summer to teach Field Epidemiology to undergraduate science majors at the University of Nebraska’s Cedar Point Biological Station.
