Representatives of established and evolving interprofessional networks from around the globe met together following the All Together Better Health IX Conference in Auckland for a 3-day partnership development retreat. Regional representatives from Africa, Canada, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Qatar, the UK, US, Sweden, Switzerland, and South America, along with a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) participated in an intensive process of partnership development. The result was the transformation of the World Coordinating Committee into Interprofessional.Global, a global confederation focused on fostering interprofessional education and collaboration around the globe. Serving as agents for change and providing global leadership in advocating, promoting, developing, innovating, and researching, interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP).
A two-year strategic plan was developed for the confederation and seven work groups were established to support the attainment of these strategic goals. They are partnership facilitation, communications, policy development, research, academic and workforce development, data repository, and finance and funding. Members of the wider global interprofessional community will have the opportunity to participate in each of these working groups.
