Colombia Ministry of Health and Social Protection Establishes Interprofessional Education as Mandatory Quality Guideline

The Colombia Ministry of Health and Social Protection publishes a decree which includes guidelines for the application of IPECP in its system for training health professionals.

Through Decree no. 376 of March 14, 2022, the Ministry of Health of Colombia incorporated guidelines for the application of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) in the training system of professionals in this country. The decree provides information on the use of IPECP to strengthen the skills and problem-solving capacity of health professionals, based on the development of training actions and collaborative and teamwork, through the IPECP strategy.

For Piedad Serpa, the REIP representative in Colombia, this decree “represents a step forward in the country for the implementation of the IPECP, as the guidelines for its application are contained in a document from the Ministry of Health”.
